Jonathan McHardy believes that PSG must sell one of its two stars this summer to start a new cycle.
After a roller-coaster season that saw a Champions League semifinal, a victory over LOCC in Ligue 1 and a triumph in the French Cup, PSG will have to make changes this summer to regain their place at the top of France and Europe next season. And to make that happen, RMC journalist Jonathan McHardy advises the Parisian management to part ways with either Kylian Mbappe or Neymar this summer.
“You have to look ahead. We saw it didn’t work with Tuchel. Pochettino gives me a lot of doubts because he is a coach of the same profile as Tuchel and Emery. I would like to know what Leonardo will do now, since he was presented to us as a cowboy who is coming back to town, but a choice will have to be made. And for me, it’s a very easy choice.
You can’t keep running this team with Neymar and Mbappe. It’s either one or the other for several reasons, and the most obvious one is that having both options creates a problem in the tactical setup. The Fantastic Four have never worked at the European level. On the contrary, all the coaches who have gone through PSG have been pressured to get Neymar and Mbappe’s results, not the results of the team as a whole. And even if a break comes thanks to Covid-19, it will be necessary to manage the payroll and respect financial fair play.”
