Brazil’s national team coach has invited Manchester United midfielder Fred to join the national team for the World Cup qualifiers.
Fred has not played for the national team for more than two years, but United’s effective results led Tite to offer him a place again.
Fred’s last match for the Brazilian national team was in a friendly against Saudi Arabia (2-0) in October 2018.
“Immense joy to return to represent my country. Always proud to be chosen. Let’s go again!”,Fred commented on the return.
This is the first time Tite has invited Benfica central defender Lucas Verissimo to the national team. Dani Alves, Gabriel Barbosa and Lucas Paquete also returned to the team.
Thiago Silva, who helped Chelsea reach the Champions League final against Manchester City on May 29, will also play for Brazil this summer.
Neymar will lead Brazil’s attack. Tite commented on his return:
“Neymar will have creative freedom. We want to make the most of his talent in the team structure. He will play the same way he played for the national team, the same way he plays for PSG.”
Brazil has won all four World Cup qualifiers and leads the standings with 12 points.
The Canarinhas will play Ecuador in Porto Alegre on June 4 and Paraguay in Asunción four days later.
